Haze, Rain & Turkish Roast Chicken

Image
When the 'authorities' talked about the school closure due to haze, nothing or rather no one was clear about it. School or no school? Which states? Teachers and students or only students? Whose authority it is to give directive, PMD or MOE? MOE's website was out-dated for urgent issue like this. They seemed very slow in making decision. Should it be called 'cuti berganti' or 'cuti darurat jerebu'? Then, the night before the next day. 'Teacher, got school or not?' The TV1 highlighted, 'school is still closed'. Another, 'schools may open tomorrow'. Statements are contradictory. I just want the MOE to be the only one giving one fast, short and clear announcement through its website and on television.

Great Smokey Days

Image
I think this is the first time the schools in KL and Selangor are closed due to haze. So are in several parts of West Malaysia. The topic is all over the country and all over the social networks. People hating it. Hating the people who started it. The smell of the smokey haze is so obvious as if the burnings are happening in the neighborhood. And the doors and windows are all tightly closed. Muar was on emergency status last night and it still is again, I think, this morning. The API index reading was 750! Over there in Riau, Indonesia, they are covered by double thick smoke of their doing. The lungs are crying, "hello, Indonesian Government, what are you doing?!"

A brief getaway to Perth, Western Australia:Part 1

Image
The trip has not been a very happy one but it feels good that I have experienced another late fall-early winter, a season that I start to love. The weather in late May was cold in the morning but quickly followed by quite warm weather as the day progressed (between 10 and 22 degrees). When the dark set in, the temperature dropped to a point that we had to put on our thin jackets. It did not rain the three days we were there except in the early morning when we depart for Kuala Lumpur. Significant rainfall in winter is one of the  characteristics of the mediterranean climate after a dry summer. When we went to Istanbul in late fall last year, it rained almost every day we were there but the vacation has been wonderfully great.

Pontian-Singapore-Melaka Trip

Image
It is almost a week since we came back from Singapore school excursion which was organised by the BM society and Nature Club. Time really flies. We set off on friday afternoon in two buses after the school cross country event had finished, with 88 people including 8 teachers. I was late by half an hour and the bus started to roar as I reached school at 12.30. He he.

A fruitful stop at Dong

I went back to Tumpat for 2N3D last week. I brought back with me the 3 gadgets that I couldn't part with for even a day, and some books to be marked. Only a daughter joined us after much persuasion for the reason that she is a very good company to her grandmother. And I'm not..

Kemusykilan kerja kursus geografi 2013

Scroll up or down to look for your answers, ok? Thank you for reading and visit me again.

Kaedah Kajian KKG PMR 2013

KKG 2013: Kaedah Kajian "saya kurang faham...cikgu geo saya suruh cari maklumat dari internet tapi x jumpa..."
"Cikgu, borang soal selidik kan, kena tulis ape ya? Cikgu geo saya tak cakap eh, suruh kami buat sndiri. Pening kepala sy. " "
saya ingin bertanya adakah soal selidik (kaedah kajian) memerlukan huraian sebelumnya atau terus letakkan 20+ borang soal selidik selepas pemerhatian?"
"Selalunya nk soal selidik semua tu boleh buat kt mne ye???"
"Bagi saya link .. saya nak tiru !! Cepat !"

Rumusan kajian pengangkutan awam

Seorang pelajar bertanya dalam ruangan komen. "cikgu cm mne nk buat rumusan...????" Jawapan saya adalah satu contoh spontan sahaja. Anda boleh tulis dalam ayat anda sendiri tetapi yang penting rumusan anda adalah berdasarkan setiap objektif yang anda hendak capai.

Kerja Kursus Geografi Tingkatan 3 2013: Konsep,Jenis, Kepentingan, Masalah & Cadangan kurangkan masalah Pengangkutan Awam

Tawau, Oh Tawau!

Image
My Kampung, Wallace Bay. This was my last trip of the year 2012 which is taken annually and free of charge. Although my family and I have been going back religiously since more than 12 years ago, it had been only this year I seriously wanted to pay real attention to the place I called my hometown. Maybe it is this middle-aged syndrome..It has not grown much physically which I felt relieved and it still retained much of it old characteristics. I wish it had more tourist attractions that I could enjoy and blabber about but there are not many. And I'm 'scared' to advertise this small town for tourism because of just one thing. Its cleanliness.  It's dirty and smelly in most parts especially the eating places at Taman Sabindo. Even the area near KFC. This really put me off!  Although other areas might be clean, the phrase that echo in my mind is, ' Tawau ni comot dan selekeh'. Common, Majlis Perbandaran Tawau. But.... Tawau is still my hometown. Central Anatolia: Angora Ankara

Image
Day 8 (20 Nov 2012) After traveling about 4 hours from Cappadocia, we reached Ankara at 1 pm, timely enough for our lunch. Ankara is the 2nd largest city and the capotal of Turkey, and has 5 million population. The big Ankara Slum on the hill.

Central Anatolia: Cappadocia, land of natural wonders.

Cappadocia, land of natural wonders. It includes Kaymakli, Gerome, Uchisar, and another four centers.   This post is quite long because we stayed here for two nights and visited many places like Kaymakli, Gerome Open Air museum, Valley of Imagination, Carpet making centre, jewelry centre and other view stops. More than half of us went up the air balloon trip.

Day 4 (Nov 16, 2012)

Aegean Region: Kusadasi-Pamukkale, Turkey

Image
We checked into the Pine Bay Hotel the night after stopping at Anatolia Taste, the Turkish Delights shop. After putting the luggages in the room, we went to have our dinner at the OMG huge dining room. The buffet spread was in another section separated by doors and our table was far down at the back, I was afraid I might spilled the food on the way. I posted a number of pictures about the hotel because I had never been in a hotel with a very big dining area before. It seemed that the hotels we stayed the nights could accommodate many, many guests with the exception of the boutique hotel in Coppadocia. Below is the beautiful view behind the hotel. Pine Bay is located on the shore of Aegean Sea. I didnt know this until I saw the pictures in the camera. Heck, I missed it!

Istanbul Aku Datang 1

Image
We departed from KLIA at about 12.50 am and after a 10-hour flight , we arrived at Istanbul Ataturk Airport  at 6.30 am local time. The weather was 12 degree Celcius. After going through the immigration process, we performed our subuh prayer at the carosel area. Our bus was already waiting outside the airport to bring us to enjoy the cruise along the Bosphorus Strait. It was cold and my daughters were shivering as they didn't take out their jackets from the luggage. The luggage was tucked deep inside the bus luggage compartment.

Istanbul, here I come.

Image
"Istanbul Aku Datang", the title of a new Malay flick starring one Lisa Surihani, aptly describes our next trip. 3 more days and counting. Early this morning, we booked two triple-rooms at Ayasultan in Istanbul. My eyes were already tired from all the googling to find more info for our trip to Turkey.
