Help!!

Image
It's almost the end of the year. All major examinations except SPM had been carried out and the students are having a lot of 'fun' either at school or at home. However, the education officers aka teachers are not slowing down. PBS key-in has not yet finished. There are many other tasks to be completed before the school closed for the year-end holiday. There are these ICT things, that got the teachers on their nerves! I bet, those at the top are also not having enough sleep. In the last few years, things keep changing and changing. I'm not opposing changes but they should be done after a thorough study. We, teachers are the ones carrying out the changes or else they will just 'collecting dusts' in the big files up there. Please have a pity on us. We might be your mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, aunties, uncles and so forth.

Haze, Rain & Turkish Roast Chicken

Image
When the 'authorities' talked about the school closure due to haze, nothing or rather no one was clear about it. School or no school? Which states? Teachers and students or only students? Whose authority it is to give directive, PMD or MOE? MOE's website was out-dated for urgent issue like this. They seemed very slow in making decision. Should it be called 'cuti berganti' or 'cuti darurat jerebu'? Then, the night before the next day. 'Teacher, got school or not?' The TV1 highlighted, 'school is still closed'. Another, 'schools may open tomorrow'. Statements are contradictory. I just want the MOE to be the only one giving one fast, short and clear announcement through its website and on television.

Three Saturdays

Image
Three Saturdays in a row were used and will be used for school related events. The first was the best, it was made compulsory to have fun and relaxation. Kasih disemai, Sayang dibelai . The only one working was the mouth; to chew and swallow. And for talking and laughing.

Hari Ko-kurikulum 2012 (Co-curricular Day)

Image
It's done every year, this 'Hari Kokurikulum'. The basic objectives are mostly the same. However, this year also marked the Silver jubilee of SMK Taman Bukit Maluri. And I have been here since my first posting for a solid 21 years. Why do I stay here so long? Am I so comfortable here or too scared to move to another school? Both reasons are not wrong. This school has existed since 1987 and one of the KL schools which has a big field which is rare in KL. What did we have this time? The format was quite different from last year like having no competitions of sorts. We concentrated more on the jubilee part like presenting plaques to teachers serving 15 years and more in this school. We also had the fifth formers freeing cages of small birds instead of having balloons up there in the air. Food sales were still carried out but on a lesser scale and there were not many food varieties as clubs sold almost the same food. Let's have a look at the photos below. Sorry for the glo...

Kuala Gandah, Lancang

Image
Well, I came over this album featuring our trip to Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary in Pahang a few years ago. The trip was organized by the EndemicGuide  which I found on the internet.

Random Talking..

Image
Life has been busy since my last post. Doing this and that and coming home late. Since age has been catching up with me, I now work and think slow. Forgetfulness is the norm. I have to recount the cup of rice I'm going to cook and simple multiplications is an arduous task. I have to write my next day lesson plans a few hours after I finished all my classes when the memory of them are still fresh. My multi-tasking skill is not a skill now so please do not  interrupt me when I'm doing things. Feel like my brain space getting smaller and constricted, giving me headaches. And I seldom get headaches before. Ha ha ha. ~

Kuala Sepetang on Day 1

Image
The fishing village of Kuala Sepetang The 2D1N trip last saturday went well but as we all know, 'Human plans but God decides'..This trip was organized by the Nature Club of my school and I, the teacher in-charge. We set off at 7.45 am from the school and arrived in Taiping at between 1 and 2 pm. We stopped at two R n R, Tapah and Bukit Gantang, two places which were not in the plan and I believed, it wasn't the students who wanted to eat (as they were already told to either take their breakfast at home or on the bus).

Blown Down

Image
It happened on Monday, May 14, 2012 at 2.40 pm as told by the school guard who was on duty at that time. There had been a small downpour which lasted for a about an hour.

Intra-Zone Netball

Image
I have been involved in this game on and off for almost 20 years, not including my years as a student. But sadly, the achievement was nothing to shout about. I would like to look at it this way > although we never win, the experience will provide the basis for any future recreational activities. As in my daughters who are and were active participants in their university netball games. Here are some pictures taken during the MSSWP Intra-Zone netball tournament held in UM. It was the first time we had it there after several years playing at the Pusat Sukan Chochrane. I like the location because its nearer the school and we didnt have to go through severe traffic jams as we did the previous years. This year saw school teams sporting colorful jerseys of various designs. And we see that most players now are malays. Even Jinjang who were previously an all chinese team had became all-malays. Where have the other races gone? More than 10 years ago, TBM comprised the all three races who we...

Sighs!

Image
I have just read another blogger's 'frustrations' about the teacher's world today. Gone are the days when going back to work after the holidays was something that was really looked forward to. School going children are also not spared.  So, let us work this out together..

Gotcha!

Some students in 3J have returned the reply forms to the PTA meeting this saturday. One of the parents commented about the state of the girls restroom. When I told the girl Z that her parent must attend the meeting to voice whatever things about the school, Z immediately striked out the statements. I called her parent, the mother, if she would like to attend the meeting. She said, no. How is her daughter doing in school? So far, she's okay but she wasn't in the morning assembly. What? Was her best friend there? Who? LS . No, she wasn't there, too. Thank you. At 10 something, she smsed me that she had sent Z to school. Make sure she is in class. I went up to check and there they were. I told them I considered them absent today since they came in after the second period. I smsed Z's mother and thanked her. When I went down the stairs, the other 2 girls came after me asking if I had called their parents. I called but no one answered. Now, did u give me the right numb...

POST PMR: The Vampire looks.....

Image
Well, this is the last post of the activities we did after the PMR exam. I need to clear the space in my iPhoto memory to make way for new future pictures. If you 'store' them virtually, they won't get lost, I think. Pn. Tan did most of the thinking and initial works since I was away at that time. We requested that each class must have at least one representative. Freedom to chose any theme they like. Usage of recycled materials are encouraged. Must also provide own music to accompany the model/models while catwalking along the 'red carpet'. But there was no red carpet. Ha ha. Marks were given based on creativity, presentation and theme coordination. Here are the outcomes. See for yourself and evaluate. I apologize for the low quality BB pictures which are really irritating to the eyes.  The young judges: Miss Lok, Miss Nurul Aishah and Puan Yusnani. 3D girls with their theme, Angel and Devil   The MC said nice words about them having t...
