Day 3 saw us touring around Bukit Tinggi. Since Pasar Atas was not yet open, Del took us to Lobang Jepang at Ngarai Sianok.

On Day 1, without wasting time, Del brought us to Pantai Air Manis via the hill top (a shorter route, he said) where we stopped to see the sea from it. Amazing. After that, we toured the old Padang area, went past the 'chinatown' and stopped to see the fishermen warf along the Batang Arau river. Sungai Batang Arau.

Padang-Bukit Tinggi Trip Plan

Image
We planned to go there about 2 weeks before the trip. My other half booked the flight and I searched on the Net to help me form an itinerary. Fortunately, there are a few travel blogs which gave me ideas what and where to see, eat and shop. I also told my daughters to read something about Bukit Tinggi so that they won't be in the dark and not just solely depend on their mother for info! Heh. Unlike our trips to USA, Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok, Bandung and Hong Kong which steered towards the shopping line, this time I planned more nature sightseeings. Bukit Tinggi is a highland resort on the volcanic Barisan Range, located close to inactive Mt. Singgalang and still active Mt. Merapi. In fact, when we were there, they reported smokes coming out of it.

Padang-Bukit Tinggi, Sumatera

I have been here for three days and those days were spent travelling across west sumatera. From Bukit Tinggi to Batu Sangkar to Paya Kumbuh. Then today we went off to Danau Maninjau. On the first day we were here, we visited a few places of interests in Padang, Pantai Air Manis is one of them. A small village near the beach was related to the legend of Malin Kundang, who was turned into a stone for his arrogance towards his mother.

The things I love about Kelantan

I'm writing this because my Other Half and 4 children are in Tumpat now till Tuesday to visit the family. My MIL who is in her 70's lives alone in the family house since FIL passed away in about 9 years ago. I didn't go because I cannot. They told me (do they need to? haha) to sms if I want anything from there. I told my daughter who doesn't go that they couldn't buy what I want because they wouldn't know how to.. I love shopping but this like is still controllable because I limit what I buy. Well, I'll be going back regularly, kan? No need to rush buying all those things I want. When we go back, thing that we are thinking most of the time is the food. 'Mana nak makan?'. I don't cook when I go back because we want to enjoy the food while on our very short visit there. Visiting the Siti Khadijah Market and the Buloh Kubu Bazaar is a must. I do go to Wakaf Che Yeh and the low prices of everything at these outlets are very enticing. Who says the ba...
